FLAG DAY 2003

The Grand Lodge of  Elks requires every lodge to do a Flag Day ceremony on June 14th. This year our Exalted Ruler- Tim Smyth decided to have a parade and ceremony at the park in downtown Millinocket. As luck would have, it rained on our parade. We did have a backup plan and moved the ceremony into the Elks Lodge. Mr. Francis Megno was our master of ceremonies and had made all of the plans.

The Millinocket Lodge of Elks officers did a very good job performing the ceremony. After that, Mrs. Jean Plourde read the verse "Do you remember me". Then two members of the Sons of the American Legion did a demonstration of how to fold the flag with Marine Corp League member, Leon Baron explaining what the different folds meant. It was something that most of the people there didn't even realize existed. The same as most people don't realize that the Elks were the originators of Flag Day. SHE'S GRAND, SHE'S GLORIOUS AND SHE'S OURS TO LOVE FOREVER.

Following are the pictures that were taken of the ceremony.
